Just "pouring over" my new Popular Mechanics mag and. on P. 16, is a full page ad for the E2D Defender from Surefire.

They call it a "self-defense flashlight". Very nice looking but would you want to be close enough to a perp to have to use the crenellated "Strike Bezel" on him/her?

I'd say several swift kicks to the groin would work as well if not better if you were that close. But what if the attacker had a gun? You wouldn't rush him to use the bezel...
