Hello there,

The other day i picked up a flashlight which on the package
is called an "Eclipse" but isnt one of those small pocket
flashlights likethe tiny key ring type. It's a AA minimag
size and even has the same threads. The construction
is all aluminum and is not colored like the minimags.
It's made in China and the retail cost was $20 USD and
it has six Nichia type LEDs, and has a fairly strong
lanyard that comes with it.

What im wondering is if anyone else has purchased one
of these somewhere and what their experience has been, etc.
Also, if anyone disassembled the head and possibly found
out what type of circuit was used that would be nice to
know too, as im wondering about the reliability too.
Also, where to get more of these.

I found the web site stated on the package
http://www.prokits.com.tw
but cant find any flashlights on their site.

$20 for a six LED light seems pretty good...

Take care,
Al

I think MrAl said he has bought one (twice in fact), I understood him to be asking for other's experiences.

I hope someone has the information (or Al risks his new light and digs in himself), as 'his stuff' is absolutely top drawer. Interesting (and hopefully useful) information coming is my bet.

I don't have one, in fact haven't seen it even (or probably would....), but like I just said, I hope someone does.

As a guess, I'll take a clone of the 4 LED Dorcy. My bet is it just has a few more LEDs in parallel. We get Chinese LEDs cheap, they must get them cheaper still.

FWIW, I paid about $20 for my Dorcy, and consider it a good deal (and have recommended it), while I think the eLED from BG at the same price is a better light at $20. I'll be looking out for them.
