is a 4.99mW green laser really a high mW??

is a 4.99mW green laser really a higher mW?? i was wondering because i have a "mod" green laser that is suppose to be at 4.99mW so i assume it is a 5mW diode...could it be 10 or more? what i am getting at is, are there really different diodes or are that just "tuned" down or up to what they are sold as...does that make any sense???i just wanna know before i crack open my green pointer and try to make it brighter....sorry if this is a stupid question....thanks in advance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif
