Whoa!!!! I'd like to see the car with 6000 nickel-metal hydride, AA-sized batteries. That's inSANE!

Ask and you shall receive. This will get you to the page of the White Lightning, current record holder for electric vehicles. Take a note of the battery packs in place. Quite an impressive sight.

*Something doesn't seem right though. Although it claims to be run off of NiMH AA's, I doubt they would have the required power output to even get that fast before the batteries are totally drained of power.*

The new bid is scheduled for October and will take place on a more reliable surface - a Tarmac runway.

Something doesn't seem right with that statement. I know runways at airports are long, but I doubt there is one that is 11 km long that is needed to safely attempt a speed record.
