Holster for for SureFire E2?

I have never liked carrying any of the Surefire flashlights in anything but a jacket pocket, or a holster, where the likelyhood of accidental activation is minimized.

The relatively new lockout tail caps are a good solution for the flashlights they fit, but they are expensive, and aren't available for the E2

I like carrying my 'primary' flashlight on my belt, where I can get to it quickly, if needed.

But all summer, I've had to leave my E2 behind, and carry one of my 6P's, because I can't find a really nice holster for it; like the ones ureFire makes for their larger flashlights. I carry a small knife on my belt, in a small nylon case. I don't want to use a knife case for the E2; I don't want some eager rookie police officer to think I have a small *and* a large knife, and make me prove it's 'just a flashlight'. Besides, the large knife is in my pocket, and travelling between various cities and counties in my state, it's legal in some, not legal in others. I rather not have a pat down, followed by the almost certain confiscation of my $100 knife, that I will have to fight to get back. (This happened to me once, already, when I had a standard Buck Hunter 110 on my belt)

So does anyone know of a source for a nice holster for the E2, or beter yet, know when SureFire is going to be making them?

Thanks!

SureFire is making holster proto-types for the E Series.
It is highly likely that LockOut TailCaps for the E and G Series will be available in the future.

Why not click HERE to check out PK's Proto-Photoz Gallery 1 for some photos?!

Totally cool!

I think that PK's Proto-Photoz Gallery 1 probably has better pictures than the SureFire home page.

When did the M6 become available in black and silver? Now I need one of each....and a truckload of 123's, to feed them.

I think the M6 is ready for a new NiMH battery pack. There's enough room for plenty of mAH, in a propritary battery pack, and a 100 lumen lamp would allow a decent burn time.

I think that SureFire could sell a *lot* of conversion kits, containing the 'reduced' output lamp, NiMH battery pack, and charger.

I know I'd buy one!

"When did the M6 become available in black and silver?"

These are not SureFire retail products. It is important to note that many of the models on PK's site are proto-types and samples.

Maybe in the future, the Millennium Series will be available in Military Level III Hard Anodise black, I suppose it's about showing a demand for it.

As for NiMH, I'm not so sure now whether NiMH batteries are better then NiCads...
I've often asked PK for a rechargeable battery pack for the M6 but it seems that it's a trade between compactness and running costs?
Maybe in the future, rechargeable flashlight with a single TurboHead Reflector offering 500+Lu, 250Lu and 100Lu Lamp Modules will be made. I hope so.

I use a Dix leatherworks combination holster which carries my leatherman super-tool and a 2aa mag lite. I stretched the leather to accomadate the E2 which is 13/16" dia. (and a VERY tight fit, as the maglite is 3/32" smaller in diamater). The process of stretching took several months of putting a 7/8" piece of pipe into the holster every night when I was not using it before it was working comfortably, but for alot less than buying a custom made job I have a great leather holster for my E2 and a leatherman tool. I also cut down the top of the holster where the top of the flashlight rests allowing it to ride lower - I cut it down by perhaps 1/2" but could go another 1/2" easily. Or one could perhaps not cut it down at all and fit an E3 in there perfectly once it is stretched out and they begin selling E3's! I think they also sell single holsters for the Minimag if that is all you need. BTW I asked about a custom made one for my leatherman and E2 and it was almost twice what I paid for the standard leatherman/minimag model.

I think I might buy/make/adapt some sort of belt-holder for my E2.

There is a product available, classed as "Leather Stretching Agent", which you spray on to the leather, and it then stretches well and remarkeably easily for a few seconds (only), before it dries out, keeping it's new shape/suppleness.
It doesn't seem to affect the leather much otherwise, certainly doesn't massively weaken it or do anything obviously deleterious. The instructions warn that you may alter the shade of the colour slightly, but that's never happened in my experiments. That's with all different colours and shades of leather.
I don't know what it would do to Clarino or fancy finishes, or other more exotic skins.

Oh, and BTW, Save The Planet !

If you used that on the 2AA Mag holder, and then carefully pushed the E2 in, it would work for re-sizing, certainly on that scale, an ~2.4mm diameter increase.

I even think that maybe with some careful treatment, and perhaps practice, one could possibly retain the complex shape (ie. the raised knurled areas, and the lower diameter "plain" areas), which could help to retain the torch.

Anyway, the stuff works great, and is cheap, over here it's around $5 for 100ml.
Sold in Department Stores and such, in the UK as "Woly Stretch" or another make, same idea and seems identical, "Punch: Leather Stretch Spray".

I just stopped at Menards here in Michigan and bought a Oracle-lite AA flashlight with a nylon holster w/flap to cover the lens. My E2 fit it great!

The cost was only $4.99 (on sale down from $6.99. That is less than the cost of an Uncle Mikes I used before.

The nylon seems to be well constructed.

I will be removing the clip from my light to make it fit better.

Now, if only I had a E3

I carry an emerson CQC7 inside the waist band, about 4 inches to the right of my zipper, and soon will be carrying a 722 mel pardue axis which i just got today (what a cool knife). NOW I HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO KEEP IT, a sog paratool in a sheath on my left side, and a CRKT KISS knife as a money clip. If you are looking to get quick acess to a knife, you wont, in a life or death situation, most likely you will not have time to get to it. If you are thinking a knife will save you life, you are mistaken, you could get hurt while trying to get the knife out, so plan on using hand to hand fighting skills first and then when you have gotten out of the way of your attacker deploy your knife and use it if necessary, but remember DONT TRY TO BE A HERO ITS BETTER TO RUN AND NOT TAKE A CHANCE THE PERSON HAS A GUN OR KICKS YOUR BUTT.

As with law problems as long as you are not bothering someone else with your knife or showing it off like rambo (a good way to get yourself killed) you probably wont have any problems. Just remember a gun is like a knife, never deploy it unless you have to use it and dont play with it, thats how accidents happen. If you pull a gun on a person, that consitutes a threat, and the same goes for pulling a knife on a person. As far as anyone knows I use my knives for cutting up cardboard boxes
