Anybody buy one of these yet. I have read that there are heat sink concerns.

There don't seem to be any willing guinea pigs for the maxstar2. Common consensus is that it's either going to have thermal management issues, or is going to be underpowered.

Looking at the few photos out there of the unit, there looks to be no decent thermal path from the PCB to the PR base (not exactly a great heat sink of itself). It's possible that they used a metal-core PCB for better thermal management, but that still doesn't buy enough margin to run a pair of 1-watt emitters at full power.

It's almost impossible to produce a nice beam with 2 emitters firing sideways from within the reflector.

I've seen them in the neighborhood of $45. Try it out and let us know how it works!

I've never tried or seen one of these bulbs, so I cannot comment either way about it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
