Controlling White LED color or tint

Nichia has an old app note from April on pulsing white LEDs, and how to cause them to stay the same color. You can do the opposite to adjust your color. There are some additional things you can do, such as pulsing the current harder for a shorter time, which will also cause a color shift, even though the average current is the same. It has alot to do with the relation of the phosphor to the blue LED die inside. Remember how the LED color shifts with drive current?

Oh cool. The Arc4 does something like that and I thought it had originated there.

Yes, I think so. And I remember a discussion on a caving electronics list about it. Several cavers preferred the maximum efficiency more than constant tint.
