my very white arc 3 runs on 1 123
I wonder if it is brighter than a arc 4+

The VIP uses a 3-watt emitter, and can drive it at close to 1 amp.

The VIP produces close to 60 lumens. That beats the ARC4+ and ( I think ) the ARC4x.

The ARC4 is *brightness* calibrated, meaning that they all have the current individually matched to the LED in each unit to make the same brightness. So an ARC4 with a high vF Luxeon might well be driven at, or close to 1 amp, but it will not be brighter than other ARC4s.

Only if you get incredibley lucky and find a KL4 with an X binned emitter. Even then, its unlikely as the KL4 only drives its Luxeon at 660mA.
