McDonalds Stepometer Hacks?

Has anybody done anything interesting with their stepometers. I haven't taken one apart yet; I assume it's easy to use it to count things -- but what?

Most pedometers work by a little weight on a spring that goes down and hits a contact as you walk.

I suppose you could modify that assembly so that you could easily manually push down the weight...

I like to attach it to my watchband and use it to count the french fries as I eat them one by one. Mmmmmmmm!

rig the contact with a momentary switch. press the switch and u get 1 step. could be easy as touching 2 wires together

All,
The easy hack is to make a bike milage counter.

Hook up the unit (or a calculator with a constant feature)
is to mount a magnetic 'reed switch' across the contacts, and epoxy a magnet at the right spot on a rotating wheel.

That way the unit will count the number of turns the wheel makes.

Just a thought.
