We\'re Having A Heat Wave

It's 7:14 on the West Coast and it's 105 degrees where I live.

Luckily, I keep the inside temp at 75.

What's the rest of the country like?

Ahh, my kind of thread.

Following a thunderstorm it's 72 degrees with 97% humidity at 9:20 PM.

OBTW: Board time is about 9 minutes slow.

I'm watching Chicago TV (WGN) and they are talking about the strange weather across the country.

Examples:
-Present temp in the Yukon - 90 degrees
-Green Bay has had only 5 days of 80 degree temp this year.
Lowest number in half a century.
-Duluth has no 80 degree days this year.

I see this for Bakersfield, Calif. for this date:

Hi 112 °F / 44 °C (1957)
Low 51 °F / 10 °C (1943)

and it is 86 °F right now.

Looks like Green Bay Record low is: 41 °F / 5 °C (1970)
Record Hi is: 92 °F / 33 °C (1966)
It is 54 °F now.

Yukon:
Record Hi is: 100 °F / 37 °C (1952)
Record Low is: 49 °F / 9 °C (1958)
It is 65 °F now.

I live near Palm Springs and, according to the Weather Channel, it's 94 as I'm typing this.

The other temps that I posted were all from WGN in Chicago.

It was 112 here in Phoenix, AZ a couple weeks ago. Today was 108. It's a dry heat!

Yeah guys!

It ain't the heat, it's the humidity!

It's cloudy out there, but this is the first morning in SEVERAL that I didn't wake up to pouring rain!

It has dome some misting at least since then (or 105% humidity) because the concrete is all damp.

Got no idea of the temp (would guess upper 80's at noon CST), but find as I get older I think every summer will be the death of me!

Nice weather in mid-southern New England with daytime highs in the low 70s the past few days. I hope it continues until I can see about getting my car AC fixed.

What's very wierd is that Fairbanks Alaska is 88 degrees as I type this and has a forecast of high 80s to low 90s for the next several days. Wonder what brought that about?

It has been gorgeous in Baltimore. 70-80F and hardly any humidity the last few days... with a 5-10 mph breeze.

This can't last forever though.

The humidity is sure to come back, and our state bird is the mosquito...

No worries, our weather folks out here go on and on about record heat waves every summer, but when you go look at the records....then you pay attention, and they'll toss in something like, in the last decade....

About 109F, and it's not supposed to actually get hot until around August. If only the AC in the Humvees worked right it wouldn't be so bad, but without those, and adding in the Kevlar vests with ceramic panels and it sucks. Not as bad as I've heard Kuwait can get though, 115-125 with close to 100% humidity near the coast. And for me anyway, it's better than below freezing.
