I've heard that ARC uses Fedex shipping. Any CA customers bought one? Did you get dinged for customs and brokerage fees? Thanks.

I wish it was a lottery (here anyway), you're pretty much
guaranteed to get nailed... brokerage fees from FedEx and then another round from customs...
the one time i had arc send my lights directly to me, it cost me an extra $95CDN
with those kind of odds I'd play the (649)lottery daily.

95?!!!?...wow, that sucks man, we are quite lucky here then,to you pay or not depends if an officer checks your goods, anyway the amount they charge is the VAT,16-20% of the value declared in the package and must be paid two months after the delivery.

Lottery it is
i bought a 4+ Primo directly from Arc and paid 45,- Can x-tra.
The i bought a 4+ second and i paid nothing x-tra.

I believe the trick is not to use any private couriers, stick to USPS/CanLost via ground and you usually get away with it.
Or have the supplier include a letter that the item shipped is just beeing returned after repair.

Just to make you feel better:
Fedex is the worst here. Their Austrian partner charges an additional fee for collecting the money AND for doing the customs work, together some $25, even when the goods are woth much less.

$95 for a flashlight? I thought $40 for a DVD was bad! Sigh. I guess I would not be getting some then.

the $95 was for two lights, only $45 of it was a fedex charge.
USPS would be ideal for ARC's Canadian customers, i remember this coming up before /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
how hard can it be to set something up with the USPS ?
Oh well...

I've only purchased an LSH from Arc...paid the rod fee...whatever the heck that is. What if we take advantage of Ksbmans services? It would likely work out cheaper. That was my plan for obtaining an Arc4...till my wife found out /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

Yep, Keith provides us with an invaluable service. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

My worst experiences with extra fees have to be with UPS. Brokerage fees on a shipment above $120 is $60 plus tax. Then you have to pay the actual taxes and duties.

Any predictions on how much my Arc AAA Premium is
going to cost me?

I'm 3 weeks into my 2 week backorder but now I'm
thinking about canceling it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Pocketlights knows how to send lights to Canada ,I use him regularly and highly recommend Dave for his cheap international shipping .He also knows how to get most of my orders to slide thru customs.

Why does PocketLights have different colors of LEDs that Arc itself doesn't have?

greg,
you should cancel your order and order from PocketLights...
i've ordered arc products from him before, customs was not an issue.
