\'Fix\' your Luxeon Star w/optics

Hello,

I've heard lots of complains about the
LS/o 's output pattern being not as even
as one would usually like. This can be
improved if you're willing to do a little
modification to the LS optics in the way
that the lense mounts. You can try
taking off the lense (by pulling gently on
one of the tabs and lifting the lense out)
and then set the lense back on the plastic
housing, but dont push it back in. Rather
let it sit on top of the two tabs and then
hot glue it there with two dabs of hot glue.
Test out the pattern and then glue it
with more glue or some other kind of glue
or whatever. The difference after this
modification is that the LS optic lense sits
about 1/32 of an inch higher then before,
meaning it's going to be 1/32 of an inch
farther away from the LED itself. Although
that doesnt sound like much, when dealing
with the incredibly short focal length of
this lense it makes quite a difference
making the output pattern much smoother
and more even. You may wish to try other
distances too. It's a bit of a pain but
it does improve the pattern.

Good luck with it,
Al
