A couple of decades ago, I pulled over for the state police, and got a ticket for speeds in excess of 130 mph. In a Nissan 310GX, believe it or not (I'd just rebuilt the top end of the engine). So it is documented (happened to be on a "farm road"). (209.2147 kph)

On a motorcycle, even further back, either 155 (249.4483 kph) or 170 mph (273.5885 kmph), I can't remember, on a bored out BSA flat track racing cycle. One unique feature of this cycle is that it had a big knob to adjust to tighten up the handlebars for these high speeds.

I can't wait for the German Autobahn cpf'ers to pipe in.

135 mph in a new (at the time) '70 Datsun 240Z. I'll put some perspective on it by saying this was some feat being I was (and still am) on a tiny island out in Hawaii.

I have a ticket that I got for going 132 mph with 4 pasengers and the air conditioning on in my 88 Ho quad four grand am in 1996.
I was driving from hood river back to portland oregon.
stock engine with power chip.

car has a few mods now. It is quite a bit quicker.
I drive slower now gettin old I guess.
The car is in better mechanical shape now than in 96.
652 dollar ticket.

I had faster v8 powered cars in my past with 120 mph speedometers but after 120 who knows how fast I was going.

Hmm... About 150 M/h on my bike (Honda CBR 600), and about 170 in a car (Porsche, not mine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I got my 87 Celica up in the neighborhood of 100 MPH on the interstate once. The way it was shaking, if I pushed it much faster one of the tires would have blown, or some other part would experience catastrophic failure.

The speedometer stopped at 250km/h(155mi/h) as the engine's electronic wouldn't allow you to go faster - won't try that a second time though - sometimes you recognise brainfart ideas as such after you try them out. I don't want to imagine what could have happened! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Fastest ever: 120ish on a Volvo S40

Fastest on my own car (Toyota Corolla): somewhere between 105 and 110, the speedo tops out at 110 and it was close to that. I was late for a flight and I didn't know a stock Corolla can go that fast! lol

right behind you. LOOK!
~135 mph in a '77 Z28 Camero (not stock) with 3 passengers and A/C on.

Stupidest ticket was 55 in a 35 zone. I was riding a bicycle on a slight downgrade. They got me on RADAR.

It was 1975 and it was 137 as a passenger in a 1973 Firebird Formula 400.

We were doing about 85 when a chopper ridden by a long haired, long bearded hippie pulled up beside us on my side and began nodding his head forward, indicating speed up. He didn't have a speedo on the bike. As we went faster I indicated speed via hand signals to the nut on the bike. At 130 the car started floating pretty bad but the biker stayed 6' from my door as we weaved across the lanes. At 137 I chickened out and demanded my buddy slow down. The biker continued to accelerate.

As far as myself driving, the posted speed limit of course. The 4-5 speeding tickets I received growing up were a fabricated plot to bring down an upstanding member of society. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thank goodness there is an inverse relationship between age and speed. My last speeding ticket was in 1987.

140M/h (225K/h) for fifty Km on ze autobahn, and was passed a couple dozen times.

Went faster when I was testing an electronic C/D ignition in a dragster, don't know how fast, no speedometer just a BIG tach. Ah, the days of my mis-spent youth...
