Green light won\'t \'excite\' glow powder?

I put some glow powder laden fingernail polish on the base of a Hotlips, which has a cyan [more greenish] on top. I turned it on, . . . . . . . . . .barely glows. Even after 30 seconds of having the light on. Only a few seconds of a UV 5mm LED caused it go glow.

Anyone know the reason for this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Glow powder responds best to light sources rich in UV.. See this FAQ.

I think red light won't excite glow powder either. For best response from glow powder, go with blue, white or UV lights.

You need a wavelength of light shorter than the color of the glow powder.
