Just \'Cause I Like It

Maybe you have some little bit of philosophy, a quote, poem or such that for some reason, you just like it. If so, feel free to post it.

Here's one from me, just because I like it.

I Found a Tiny Starfish
By Dayle Ann Dodds

I found a tiny starfish
In a tidepool by the sand.
I found a tiny starfish
And put him in my hand.

An itty-bitty starfish
No bigger than my thumb,
A wet and golden starfish
Belonging to no one.

I thought that I would take him
From the tidepool by the sea,
And bring him home to give to you
A loving gift from me.

But as I held my starfish,
His skin began to dry.
Without his special seaside home,
My gift to you would die.

I found a tiny starfish
In a tidepool by the sea.
I hope whoever finds him next
Will leave him there, like me!

And the gift I've saved for you?
The best that I can give:
I found a tiny starfish,
And for you, I let him live.

Lyrics from a song that somes it up for me, a little bit.

Yes, I am a Pirate
200 years too late
The cannons don't thunder
There's nothing to plunder
I'm an over 40 victim of fate
Arriving too late; arriving too late

to see a world in a grain of sand
and heaven within a flower
hold infinity in your hand
and eternity in an hour

Ant Hill

Black ants have made a musty mound
My purple pine tree under,

And I am often to be found,
Regarding it with wonder.

Yet as I watch, somehow it's odd,
Above their busy striving

I feel like an ironic god
Surveying human striving.

Then one day came my serving maid,
And just in time I caught her,

For on each lusty arm she weighed
A pail of boiling water.

She said with glee: "When this I spill,
Of life they'll soon be lacking."

Said I: "If even one you kill,
You *****! I'll send you packing."

Just think - ten thousand eager lives
In that toil-worn upcasting,

Their homes, their babies and their wives
Destroyed in one fell blasting!

Imagine that swift-scalding hell! . . .
And though, mayhap, it seems a

Fantastic, far-fetched parallel -
Remember . . . Hiroshima.

Sierra Breeze

Sierra Breeze rushes
Over brown and green to white
She touches you and flys
To caress the clouds
Sierra Breeze soars wildly
Seeking only sky
As you turn to glimpse
You do not see
Sierra Breeze laughs
She eludes your grasp
And your heart is touched
As the boughs around you
Sierra Breeze soars
She leaves you to question
Then comes back gently
To brush with new fingers
Sierra Breeze sees you struggle
With your question
She wraps you in herself
And answers with a gentle touch

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
