Are we 100% sure that GM and SG are the same finish? I just got an E2e-SG body and tailcap, and it exactly matches an E1-GM head I have, but it is significantly darker than an E2e-SG head I've had for some time.
I'm not positive about which finish the heads were designated as, but my understanding was that non-elite silver finishes were labeled GM and elite silver finishes were labeled SG, but they were the really the same color. This doesn't appear to be true. Were there E2e-GM's sold before they switched to SG?
