Specs are: 3 TWAKS, 1 SWAK and 1 TWOJ with UCL Lens+IMS Reflector and of course hand polished.

twaks are 667, 561, 333 mAmps swak@561 mA and twoj@333mA.

Canuckle : IMS reflectors are the 17 mm SO17XA reflectors from Electrolumens , If you use the old style reflectors be prepared to grid/shave the bottom to make room for the caps, resistors so it sits flat on the circuit board and center the luxeons properly. If you use the new style SO17XA reflectors no need to do this, Luckily I called IMS and asked for samples and they gave me 3 of the new style ones sweet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ralf: I hand polished them with a dremel tool with polishing tip and aluminum paste by coda cannondale, the paste is used on alumunum frames on mountain bikes very effective only need a small amount took a while though, and no I did not remove the HA it came without it as you can see from the pics one of them is not polished yet.

I was successful in transforming one of the "arc-ls pcb hybrids" (twoj@333mA) to fit the new style heads by carefully removing the circuit board from the big slug and transferring it to a homemade copper slug, the rest are regular arc pcb's that Peter auctioned off at ebay a while back I had to fix them so far they work perfectly no flashing etc. I still believe we can create a custom slug for these heads to fit a badboy or madmax pcb but I don't have the tools to do this something like this:

http://img35.photobucket.com/albums/v105/rroxas/slug.jpg

might do the trick.

as far as if it's for sale, make me an offer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think I can part with some of them but need at least one for myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Oh yeah, I still have 1 TWOJ star left if you don't what the TWAK, SWAK I can swap.

Oh! Special Thanks to Merri from Arc she gave me the rubber O-rings and delrin spacer for free when I purchased the retaining rings. Thanks Merri. Peter, If I sell some of these babies I might be able to afford an arc 5 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Hello,

Posting obligatory beamshots /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So, which one of these is the brightest?
Is it the TWAK @ 333mA or the SWOK @ 667mA? Or, is it a different one?

BugLightGeek: My mistake I misspelled the first picture is suppose to be left TWAK 333mA RIGHT SWAK 667mA

I like the TWAK @ 333mA this particular light has that slightly blue ring around the hotspot and very bright, it does not warm up at all and runs longer, it's still on its first surefire battery, the SWAK is yellowish white and gets warm quick on its second battery.

I don't have a light meter and this is just my observation but I think the TWAK@333 mA is just as bright as the SWAK@667mA maybe because my eyes see more blue than yellow. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Based on the mods I have done on these arcs and looking at the beamshots of the TWAK, TWOJ and SWAK , 561mA is the maximum I would go and a TWAK@333mA would be my favorite EDC light while the TWOJ@333mA would be my backup (placed on my computer backpack) light.

Thank you Master Jedi Litfuse! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

I went flyfishing early this morning with two TWAK@333mA strapped on my head here's the stripped fished I caught. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Nice lights (and fish /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

How's the beam with that LDF lens? Is there a large decrease in throw?

Lux Luthor: the LDF diffusion lens from flashlightlens.com I think spreads the photons evenly making a much larger hotspot/broader sidespill compared to just using the plain UCL lens with luxeons having the same current draw.

The plain UCL lens defintely throws further but if you use the LDF lens with a 561mA or 667mA TWAK or TWOJ, Man it will throw just as far as the TWAK@333mA or TWOJ@333mA.

Now I have to check and see if I'm using the old style IMS SA lens or the new style lens along with the LDF the old style lens is deeper than the new style ones maybe more reflector surface that helped too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

In case anyone was wondering...these are amazing. I got a TWAK'd polished one yesterday and it is verryyyyy nice. Easily blows away another LS 3W mod I have been using and rivals my XM-2 although the tint of the TWAK is way nicer than my XM-2.

Now, a couple questions, why does the tint of this TWAK seem a bit more purple than another TWAK beam would?

Is there a way to do a hi/lo mod to the tailcap similar to the hi/lo spring mod?
