SmarTire Announces Battery-less Tire Pressure Monitoring Technology

"RICHMOND, BC, July 28 /CNW/ - SmarTire Systems Inc. (OTCBB: SMTR) announced today that it has successfully completed the initial test phase of a new battery-less tire pressure and temperature monitoring system.... The new SmarTire technology involves a passive sensor inside each tire that is energized by an antenna located within each wheel arch...."

I think this could save a lot of lives.

Re: Battery-less Tire Pressure Monitoring Announce

My dad lost a 285/30-20 Pirelli Pzero due to the fact that because of the stiff sidewalls, he couldn't feel any difference after the tires were puntured and deflated.

I think we asked some tire shops around here and they said they couldn't fit monitoring systems to a 20" wheel. It could have saved us $330 though...

Re: Battery-less Tire Pressure Monitoring Announce

Judging by the number of people I see driving around with 1 severely under-inflated tire every day, the light on the dash will just give them an easier fix with a piece of electrical tape /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It had better say more than "check engine" when they go flat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
