Thought this was slick but don't know if it goes here. Please move if I goofed.

"In the second of the two new products, a 34 Watt sharp polycrystalline module is combined with the hardware to make a solar-powered street light. High intensity LEDs are embedded within the top of the pole. The slim stainless steel body of the lighting pole houses the necessary battery and control circuitry. "

Interesting. 40k hours of LED life isn't too bad. That's around 12 years assuming 33% duty cycle - which might be around the lifespan of the panel itself.

I'll be interested to see how long it takes before anyone here starts using them and how bright they are. I can't imagine that they'd be much use in downtown Tokyo but out in the sticks they'd be great.
