Will a mag size lens fit? Will a reflector fit?

Just tried an SOX17something-or-other reflector and it was ringy.

mine was ringy too, it's because the reflector is designed for a high dome. I replaced the cut down star with a lux 3 high dome and it's
got a perfectly round hotspot with much more spill than the optic

Yeah, upgrades are put in a HD, luxIII or otherwise. Lower the Vf the more current the driver will supply to the luxeon. This will give you a different beam pattern too that will throw a little further. For a realy nice beam, put in the 17mm reflector from IMS.

I also put blue glowpowder on the reflector ring for that added effect.

4sevens: How did you cut down the luxIII star to be perfectly centered like the stock cut down star?

Also I plan to put Artic Alumina grease between the back of the star and the "ground plate" to help thermal transfer some.

isaac: I just did. with a dremel tool /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What I also might do is cut down this light to make it a single AA
light but put in a lithium ion 3.7v cell

[/ QUOTE ] It's a little snug, but just wiggle it out.

The lens appears to be glued/pressed in place though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

If you look closely you'll see a retaing ring. It's black plastic. I belive you can unscrew that or pull it out. That's how mine is anyways.

Also the SO17XA fits nicely with an o-ring.
This along with a lux3 makes it's a really really nice light!
