How do the Luxeons compair in efficiancy to the Nichias? I know it takes like 10 or 15 Nichias to equal the brightness of a single Luxeon, but how do they compair in efficiancy? If you had enough Nichias (NSPW500BS) to equal the brightness of one Luxeon (L3), which would be more efficiant (assuming average binning on both accounts)?
Also, does anyone have any experiance with the warm whites (either Luxeon or Nichia)? How are they in terms of efficiancy compaired to their white counterparts?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Peace, Eli

Actually the latest T1S grade white Nichia 5mm have better efficiency than lumileds, though that could change anytime. 50lm/W vs ~35lm/W The luxeons are generally focused better with the Fraen lens than a group of 5mm but in terms of photons, it takes 6, 5mm now to equal the light output of the 1W star driven at 1.5W

Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif That was exactly what I was looking for.

Anyone have any experiance with the warm Whites (both Nichia and Luxeon)? How do they compair to their regular white counerparts? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
Thanks, Eli

Warm white LEDs are generally less efficient than standard white LEDs. The phosphors aren't as efficient.
