GMAIL - what\'s the verdict?
Thought I'd ask here since I know there's a bunch of users. The jury's still out as far as I'm concerned. I've been using it (2 accounts) for over a month - thanks to one invite here - and I had enough faith to begin using it as my primary email address.
I like the storage space and the whole concept of labels. I guess those are the 2 major assets. On the other hand, the use of labels, contrary to gmail's claims, is not akin to the invention of the wheel. And at times, it's downright confusing, at least to me.
I don't like the lack of distribution lists, having it add every email address I send an email to my address book (with outlook you can toggle this on or off) and the lack of support.
Why does google call this a beta if they don't solicit opinions or respond to problems? If they're too owverwhelmed, which is what the canned response sez whenever you send a message to them, why not have a support forum? Or do they?
When all is said and done, I like it a whole lot better than everything else I've used. But I think it's got a ways to go.
