MN01 driven by 2 X 1.2V Nimh AA cell

Can I use 2 X 1.2V Nimh cell to supply power to MN01 (3V Surefire lamp) bulb ?
Anybody tried before ?

you can use 2 nimh to supply the power, but it is not recommended as the lamp will be underdriven and i believe incan does not like being underdriven
