I know Peter's faq says the Arc4+ uses a 1 watt lux.
But I peered into my arc4+ and the die size and everything looks
just like all my lux 3w's

I have a batwing 1w lux that has a die that is about 60% smaller.

You can see the difference between a 1 watt HD and a Lux3 ?

I thought there werent any easily visible differences. The Lux3 is a 1 watt die in a Luxeon V package.

I have a 1w LD that is noticably smaller.
I'm not talking about the old style where the phosphorus is
circular. The 1w LD's die is square and it's is about 60% of
the 3w HD's die. I have a bunch of 3w HD's and they look like what is
in my arc4+. Pictures coming.

GJW: thanks for that link - it was a great read on this topic!

I can't tell the difference between a 1W HD and a Lux III. The LD's that I've seen have that big circular phosphor blob so I can't see the die. I believe kakster is right. There should be very little difference between 1W HD and Lux III.
