Continuing to thin my ever decreasing gem collection. This one is similar to the one labled BB-750 in the pic below except the head has been polished to an almost mirror like finish.

McLux2.jpg

(linked from bernhard's post, hope he doesn't mind)

Why 500mA ? This W flux at 500mA is as bright as my stock L4 but only draws 600mA from 2x123. That means probably close to 2 hours of runtime in regulation. This light also runs much cooler than a KL4 so you can keep it on for the full life of the batteries without it burning your hand. Like most if not all the gems I've sold, this one has never been carried and is immaculate.

$190 shipped CONUS insured.

WHAT? Are you implying that my baby is not as shiny as yours? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No problem with the pic, but the Mistress does not like it .../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mpr.gif ... if she should see it ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/aaa.gif

Thanks bernhard. That was the nicest picture I could find. But you too can make it as shiny as mine. Just a bit of elbow grease but the result is stunning. Problem is, you would not want to use it after all that work since it just looks too "perfect".

Sorry, do not have a better pic handy.

Too much work involved ... mine is a workhorse and is treated as such ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif

BTW ... bump ... there is something for sale /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One BIG price drop. $ $160 shipped. Someone's gotta have a need for a bright but cool running light.

Re:5W McLux PR-2x123 WXOV BB500

This is for the complete light as in bernhard's picture above. The power pack is 2x123 which is not available anymore last time I checked. One thing I didn't mention is that this will run off a single 123 because the power supply is not working balls to the walls. I had a McGizmo built X3T-BB750 that would barely light up on a single cell. This one running off a single fresh 123 is indistinguishable form 2x123. As the single cell gets depleted, it runs essentially open wide but because of the low 500mA LED bias, it can keep this up for probably over an hour since only a few hundred mA is being drawn from the cell once it's depleted (sort of like the TW4 mode of operation, only brighter) I spent a lot of time trying to optimize the bias so it will work with a single 123 and be very bright but never actually got a 123 pack for it. Crap, now I'm starting to talk myself out of selling this. Anyone have a McLux 1x123 power pack to sell?

Don't sell it keep it and get the Aleph 1x123 pack in bare all.
If I had the funds I would jump all over this one. It is a great setup. I love the 5W with a BB just so you can use both the 1x123 and 2x123 packs.

Here is the thread with the complete light in DG.
You can ask him if he has any in bare all.
You could also look at balrogs 1x123 packs in bare all. Here in the mod b/s/t.
Get one of McGizmo's tailcaps in bare all.
I think that would look ooooooooo sooooo nice.

McGizmo forum, pics are all over the place!

P.S.: I wouldn't sell it either, this kind of setup is my preferred allround-light ...

EDIT: this way you can upgrade to 2-stage operation and get a super-long running low mode according to your brightness needs , thus updating the light to modern standards and giving it a new life!

Man, I am glad that's over. I actually had a nightmare about this light--about someone buying it for $120 while I was not on CPF. Horrifying.

CM,

You should change your header. It still looks like the light is for sale.

Re:5W McLux PR-2x123 WXOV BB500

Cris, you should consider a Pila 150S power pack for the 5 watter. Why buy 123s? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
