Hi - I have been searching for an electrically conductive adhesive / solder replacement.

In order to stay below the temp limit of Luxeons, I have limited the cure temp. to approx 100 C. It appears that in order to obtain cure temps this low, you need to use a 2 part epoxy type, or buy a material that must be stored at (-40 C).

Does anyone know of a material that can be stored at norminal room temp, single part, silver or similar, electrically conductive material that will cure at a temp under the nominal 110 C limit of a Luxeon ? The conductivity does not have to be perfect.

Thanks

Harry,

Yup, we use a silver filled paint at work that might work, it's pretty pricey though, as I recall several dollars a gram.

They also make a similar product for circuit board repairs and modifications. I suspect someone like Technitools has it (at least that's where I think I bought it a lot of years ago...).

FWIW

Try Master Bond, Epo-Tek (Epoxy Technology (or Technologies)), and Chomerics. They both have materials like this. Master Bond stuff is spendy, Chomerics is in the same ball park.

Make sure you test whatever you are going to use, the rapid thermal changes cause several materials to crack and loose their bonds due to CTE mismatches.

I tried some Technitools and CircuitWorks materials, and had long term reliability issues for stuff that changed temperatures alot, or fast.

I know that the rear window defroster repair kit for a car is conductive. I used that to unlock many AMD thunderbird CPU's. You can get it at any local auto parts store. Dont know if its what you're looking for though, prolly now as you need somethin sticky.

A very good used and tested product is Circuit Works CW2400 Silver conductive epoxy. Conducts current and heat like crazy, cures at room remperature. Good stuff.
