I do a lot of fishing at nite, so I've made a few different headlights. Usually I use 2 AA batteries or 2 AAA's. They work fine, but I want a brighter light. Tonite I bought a 9 volt battery t ouse instead. Now, I don't really know much about watts and amps, but what happened is I got a great bright light, then I fried the bulb. The bulb was a Krypton 2.33 volt 6 amp. I've never really seen a 9 volt battery used for a flashlight, is there a reason for this? And. what other bulbs can I use that might be more powerful than the Krypton I use, is Halogen brighter? I would like to keep the weight low with the batteries, so I figure 2 AA's would be the most I want to carry. Thanks

You have lots of options with 2-3 rechargeable AA, LED and incandescent.

9V battery has only a 150 or so mAh capacity, as opposed to above 3000 mAh for an AA. It is also poor at high loads.

Yup, for a led headlight with a decent throw on 2AAs, have a look at the PrincetonTec Matrix 2. There's a couple of threads in this section on the PT M2, check it out...

Oh.. and WELCOME Vasdef! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
