Same way they got the pictures from 1 million, 100,000, 10,000, 1,000, 100, 10, and 1 light year-it was computer generated from the known 3D layout of stars and galaxies. The farthest anything manmade has been from Earth thus far is the Pioneer 10 spacecraft, which is I think is about 10 billion or so miles away. Even a lot of the closeups were likely computer generated-once objects get to the size of a wavelength of light it's impossible to take a picture of them.
