S017XA work in it... you just have to also put in a HD.
Not much brighter but very nice hotspot - perfectly round
and nice sidespill characteristic of reflectors.

HD = highdome, is the epoxy shape of the luxeon. It is shaped half a sphere.
LD = lowdome, shaped like HD, except it has a flat topside
SE = side emitter shaped like 2 cone stacked on top of each other's pointy side.

batwing is a lowdome. The light distribution pattern looks like a set of bat wings and hence the name. (there is a concentration of light off axis: the "wings")

There is one other mod for those with lathes:

Atomsphere: I think that's actually a McR-27 reflector in a Aleph1 head, which has replaced the NX-05 optics. The head's too big to be just a 17mm reflector, and it's not deep enough to be a 38mm reflector. It COULD be a 20mm, but I'm estimating 27mm based on the angle and the look. But that could also be a PR head....

That'll DEFINITELY improve the throw, however, and maybe increase the lux of the beam at the center hotspot.
