As you know Dragon series flashlights has been discontinued, so new ones are about to "see the light".
This one is the prototype of Barbolight U-O9.
There is no knurling, but the definitive model will have.
Head is just 54mm diameter thanks to the IMS optics, 20 mm ones.
Tailcap ( with momentary) is 35mm, push-button is machined from Ertacetal-C, AKA Delrin.
Will post beamshots before Friday, comparing vs Fraen optics used on DragonLED.

There will be just ONE colour available, HAIII

Definitive dimensions,

210 mm/8,26 inch, lenght
Head diameter: 54mm/2,12 inch.
Tailcap diameter: 35mm/1,37 inch.
Body diameter: 30mm/1,18 inch

copper sandwich for thermal management, all contacts made from maritinme standards stainless steel... need more info?

... 12-24V charger, 90-240 50-60 Hz charger.

Re: Time for a new prototype pic

Here are the beamshots, but it can be called too a beam study, comparing Fraen Trilens vs 3 IMS optics.
Same manual setting has beenm used on the camera, same battery pack, same diodes, same heatsink.
Unfortunately the prototype has been done using 17mm optics instead of the 20mm ones, wich are the definitives. According to IMS datasheets the wider ones are arround 20% more efficient, so light output should increase on that proportion.
The final product will be using 20mm optics.

Tomorrow will post pics showing beamshots on the "real world" (street, road, bathroom -a classical-, etc...)

comparativa_001.jpg

As you can see the hot-spots are almost similar (larger diameter on Fraen, narrower and brighter on IMS). Where I find the main difference is on the sidespill, being IMS way brighter than Fraen. On the other hand Fraen does have a distinctive corona, but the sidespill is poor when compared to reflectors.

Sooner than you think, later than I would like. I'm on it, and that is a product that is going to be released.

My target is the output of a 10 Watt HID, and will get it.

Whatever happened to the headlamp you were working on?

Too busy! But I have been thinking a lot on a headlamp. At least here are the guidelines I will follow the day I decide to make one.

1. All in head (batts included)
2. AA powered.
3. Single Lux III
4. Dimmable.
5. Alloy made. at least 2 ATM water resistant.

As you can see hard anodizing has been finished on definitive bodies.
You can apreciate too the antirroll clip, designed for pocket, and to make easier to switch on by twisting. Some diver woman reported to find hard to twist thsi kind of switch unders pressure. This clip allows better gripping, has a hole for landyard while allowing stand uo tailcap, and acts as antirrolling. Made from 7075 T651 alloy, will be blue anodized.

thanks barbarin /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

- 250mm still will be quite compact for this amount of light output !!
