I need to make several led candles or lanturns to use in a
remote camper where there is no power, I can figure out the
circut ok but I wonder about the led being a focused light?
How do you diffuse or make it a flood type light instead of
a spot type light, does anyone know which way led array in a
factory lanturn point?

I built a lantern....out of a lantern /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Details here.

I would not mind a high dome Luxeon as well, they have better tint at lower angles due to the way the phosphor coat is applied, and lower viewing angles are important in lanterns.

By default, with no reflectors or any additional optics, Luxeons put out light in all directions. You will want a diffuser (like the white plastic top in my lantern) otherwise it can be glaring if you look directly at it.

I took the reflector off of my Space needle II and it lit up the whole room, lol. but runtime isnt too great. If Milkyspit ever gets his Milky Candle II's done then that would be the perfect light for your needs.
