Is they any possible way to hook up a flash card reader
to an old computer that does not have USB ?
Any way to use an adapter, etc. ?

Glenn
EDIT: Problem solved. I phoned the relatives and found out that their Daughter had a USB Port installed in their old computer.

There were Parallel port readers.

Check eBay.

What format are you looking for CF or SM that was all that there was back then.

You probabaly also can find a serial-to-USB adapter. It would be pretty slow, though.

CF is electrically identical to an ATA hard drive. You might still find a reader/writer that will attach as a channel on your HD controller. Be pretty fast too!

If you can find a "regular" PC Card ("PCMCIA") reader that will work with your computer, you can use that with a $10 adapter for CF (which is just a PC Card in a smaller form factor).

eBay is the place to look. I remember I used to see tons of those readers at hamfests, so I'm sure they are out there. Just make sure it's got drivers for whatever OS you have.

I remember seeing something like that before too, an internal card reader that uses IDE, but I couldn't find anywhere online.

Search for CD to IDE adapter, its basically just a simple adapter, no card or anything. I have one in a small system that boots off of a 128m cf card.
