Couldn't find it on a search but it must have been asked before.

Is there an LED repacement for the Magcharger?

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For better color, perhaps, but the stock bulb is still kicking out 175 lumens with great throw. Only the most elusive binned luxes can even think of approaching. And with a more powerful bulb, it's unreachable by leds (400+ lumens). What I'm saying is: Why?

Electrolumens has some three III Lux lights. Also Barbarian is working on one. Those should be close in flood and throw. But I don't have either to say for sure.

If you just want flood or just want throw, then there are other options. I would also ask why, or what you are trying to do?

Where can you get a replacement bulb that will do that?

Get a WA01160 from flashlightlens.com to change your mc into a 500lm light. You'll also want to upgrade your battery if you want to keep the 1hr runtime on a charge...

Longer run time and longer bulb life as well as better shock absorption.

Actually, I think there IS a point in converting a MagCharger to LED - for the benefits of LED, that is, including longer runtime, no bulb burnout and shockproofing if everything is properly mounted and secured.

Of course, today's best bulbs still lay the smack down on today's best Luxeons, so don't expect a brightness upgrade, if anything expect to lose a little. If you want brightness, the Welch Allyn (WA) bulbs are the way to fly.

Still waiting on my Mag85.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was thinking that an even better option would be to replace the back screw cap with a head + LED that can be used independantly of the halogen. Not as bright, but as a back up if (when) the halogen blows.

ven't seen any combo heads for the Magcharger. Of course there are many other lights that have incandescent and LED together. Fro example the twintasks seem popular.

Normally people carry extra bulbs as backup.

Leds, will give you better shock protection and longer runtime, but as KevinL said, at the cost of less light output.

If you are looking for a drop in replacement, I haven't hard of any. But maybe something like the twintask is what you are looking for. They have good throw on incandescent and good flood on leds. The leds have long life and long run time.

So many lights, so little time...
