Very nice! I've been thinking of doing a similar light with 3 - lux III's. I got the holders and the luxes (T-bins) and I've got a D mag, with a huge heat sink -- I was wondering if it nmight not fit in a C mag though?

C and D heads are the same diameter.

why is there a separate hotlips for the C and D -- is the thinckness different? I'm asking, because I don't see C mags anywhere [I shop] -- Home Depot Wally World etc -- everybody has the D's and AA's, but no C's.

The hotlips fits in the body tube. The body tube of C and D cell mags are different. However, the C and D cell mags use the same reflector, and are the same size at the bezel.

Home Depot normally carries the Mag 2C. Your local store must have run out.

I'm my mind (and I know it's not that big!) I was thinking that the heat sink would go in the head, because there is all this room, and I was thinking that the optics and LED would all fit there well, and that since the LED is what is generating all the heat, that the heatsink would be near the LED. Since searching the database can be a real pain, does any of you know where some good pics of a C/D mod are posted? I'm looking to do a triple, and have ordered one of Electrolumens masive heat sinks, so hopefully I can work that in.

Good like I think I got some good ideas. One thing I did learn from reading was that there does appear to be a difference in the C/D head (at least with the newer ones -- kust a few millimeters though!
