Pinter
Newly Enlightened
Hello, let me introduce my first creation. A bike light that contests with 20+ Watter halogens.
Here is the setup:
- Luxeon V (U1T) with IMS 17mm reflector (yes, very greenish)
- Luxeon V (U3T) with Fraen optics
- Luxeon III (SX1T) with IMS 27mm reflector
- 2 uflex boards, one for Lux V, other for LuxV + LuxIII
- Emitters installed on a PentiumIII heatsink
- External 12xAA battery holder. Now with 12xSanyo 2100 Ni-MH inside.
For regulation I used george80's great uflex boards ( http://www.taskled.com ). They are set to 1000mA max and the reverse polarity protecting diodes were removed. Efficiency is generally 92-94%.
Although all emitters are low binned ones, usability was the same or better as Sigma's 20+5W halogen bike light.
Luxeon V with IMS 17mm gives very nice flood.
Luxeon V fraen has more flood than the Luxeon III with IMS 27mm they are together the "throwers".
Here you can see the uflex boards in the plastic box, controlling buttons, battery connector, and the heatsink from behind.
The whole setup is held together with part of my old metal-toy called "Construction", perhaps ex-DDR folks here are knowing it very well.
