I would like to fit a M4 lamp MN61 350 lumens on a M3.

Since the MN61 lamp runs on 12V. By using the MN61 on M3 I can use just 2xR123 which runs at around 12V too.

Can anyone advice me if it will work?
Will I be able to fit the MN61 into the M3 bezel head, are the diameters the same?

Please advice

The lamp will only fit if you are talking about an M3T with the turbo head bezel.

I manage to get a P91 work with 2xR123 batt each at 650mAh on a G2. and got around 16+ mins for 200 lumens lamp.

Just wondering if I can get a M4 lamp into a M3 bezel and work with 3xR123 batt.

I guess not one has tried before? if yes please advice.

even then the current demand is too high for the R123s

I used 2 R123s on my TL3 and it burnt for about 20 minutes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

P91 should draw around 2 amps, that is more than 3C,
i really doubt that you get much cycles from your cells.

At that much current I've been told that the protection circuit on the R123s would kick in and shut them off. They will work on a P90 which is similar to the TL3, but not a chance on the P91.

Gentlemen, it does work. I have witnessed a P91 mounted on an E2e with E2C adaptor and C2 bezel with 2 CR123 rechargeables and it worked flawlessly.

Morgan, one of the reason you can't fit an MN61 into your M3 is because the bulb is bigger than the hole allocated inside your M3's bezel I think.

jbev, the cells that Morganch_oh used are bare cells, meaning they're unprotected, so they'll definitely work with a P91 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif But you're right in that protected R123s will not work/have not been tested to work with the P91.

Ahh, I was really wondering about that. The last this was tried, the R123s went into protection darn near instantly. I was starting to think that those were defective or something. It's good to know that that isn't the case and that the protection circuit is alive and healthy.

As pyro said, pulling that much current out of a R123 isn't all that good for them. But since they aren't R123s, they might be the larger cells which could handle that current. If they are the 17500s, 2A should be well within what they are capable of. The Panasonics data sheet shows discharge peaks above 3A.
