Project C2-90 (see the link in my signature) is directly compatible with the D2.
Basically you change the lamp to a P90, and buy some of JSB's R123 batteries with charger. 105 lumens for 30 minutes, rechargeable, and you do not have to put up with the extra length that the Surefire kit adds to your light.
