i've been using opera browser since version 5. always used their built-in email client. have had 7.54 (current release) for a while now. last week, right after i installed nero 6.6, the email slowed down very much. i'd click an email, and it would not show up, or would do so after a few seconds. ditto if i try to right-click to move it to another folder or delete it. i uninstalled nero, same thing. reinstalled opera, same thing. defragged drive (20g drive, nothing but opera on it), same story. CPU usage as indicated by windows taskmanager hits 100%, almost all of it taken by opera.exe when it does this delay thing. no other signs of distressed computer component, just opera going wacko.
XP SP2, 1.4gHz processor, 512 ram, OS on a seperate drive (defragged that too). all drivers current/updated/patched.
nothing new software-wise or patch wise has been put in for months. hdd is in good health. i get a couple hundred emails daily (lists and newsletters and such), and it is driving me mad trying to get mail to display. browser works great. ideas? thanks.
