Looks like the star PCB doesn't habe much contact with that (aluminum?) spacer, which doesn't look to be in contact with much anything else...

I thought that this was already mentioned in the thread discussing Cones' review of the Q-III. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's supposed to be a Zetex, and changing the Lux out really DOes improve performance a lot.

People have been doing that for months. Check the "Pimped-Out Nuwai Q-III" thread. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I guess many of the Q-III lights ship with "colored" LuxIII's.

Most of them seem to be blue tinted or yellow-tinted, in both my experience and from what I've seen in these threads. Unfortunately, as it has been stated before, comparing Luxeon lights is a losing proposition for the people doing the comparing - as it looks really white until the moment you put another Luxeon light by it.

And you -do- play the lottery when you get a Q-III or a Micra, though the lottery's not quite as bad as it used to be, at least among the LuxIII LEDs. LuxI and LuxV is where the ranges tend towards extremes, though not towards 'cat-urine green' as much as it once was.

Haesslich :

Lately I opened two of Q-III head and found SW0K and SX0J.

Instead of boiling Q-III in water, I heat it up with hair dryer for 5 minutes.

...and my wife left my room in a hurry... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Some additional info. The lens is plastic ( no surprise there ) and is 1.5 mm thick and 22.0 mm in diameter. I tried a hair dryer and the boiling water and neither worked.

Gentle use of the flame got the job done right away and all the epoxy was removed with lacquer thinner.

Very well made and machined inside.

Colored luxeon3's...
Now that could be an interesting mod.
Just pop in a green, cyan, blue, or /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wow.gif royal blue star. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now that's a nice colored Luxeon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Note to self: talk with Orb about that RB module, and maybe that RB LuxV... that'd be kinda cool.

I fear I don't know, ViKi - I'd suggest asking one of our Arc experts in the Arc forum. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
