2000+ lumens for 90 minutes on 20 CR123's. Way cool!

$2900 is a bit pricey but you do get a letter from the Doctor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Would be really cool to come up with a rechargeable power source for that thing.

Is it true that the xenon/hid bulb used will never burn out or need to be replaced as the site claims?

Would make a great raffle light. That's the only way I'd have a chance at one. Maybe, get a group to purchase it and then the proceeds (after cost of the light) would go to CPF. Just a thought. I'd be great just thinking about having a chance at getting one.

20 Cells... That is retarded. That is like building an indycar that you refuel by squeezing syringes into the tank. What next, a ghostbuster proton pack light that requires 200 CR123?

I really expected a higher price for them.
And what is the built-in circuit breaker?

A HID light with momentary-on is strange.
Usualy the starting is lots of stress for
a HID bulb and shortens the bulb lifespan.
But maybe they have a special way to drive
the bulb.

I don't understand this:

"An additional benefit: they have no filament to break or burn out so they should never need replacing."

I thought that was one of the major downfalls of HID. That they are very fragile. Am I wrong?

The 20 cell config should make enough room to stick a LiPoly pack in there. Maybe find a way to stick 2 of the 4S 3100mah packs in parallel in the battery compartment? That should also provide 15% more W-h too.

But no way in hell I'll pay that much for a light. You could make your own 100W 12k lumen HID LiPoly light for that much money.

No, that's BS. HID lasts probably longer than most flashlights are used, (~2000 hours) but they still burn out. I can't imagine how much it would cost you in batteries before you burned out a bulb. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Just remember that it probably doesn't cost them more than a couple hundred to make that light... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
