I decided to create a 5 watt cyan Luxeon Star with optics, bolt on style. The emitter is on a 1" square heat sink, and the lens holder and collimator are epoxied on.

Now I can bolt it on different projects, take it off, reuse it, etc.

What are you using as a lens holder?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">A lens holder. I have the stock lens holders, and stock optics, from Lumileds. I think you can purchase the optics holders? I got these as samples.

You could use a piece of 3/4" copper pipe, and two 3/4" snap rings to hold the collimator in place. This would also allow you to adjust the distance from the emitter to the optics, if you wanted.

I just wanted to make something I can bolt on and off as needed, just like the LS w/o.

Wayne. The reason I ask is my 1W's have a black plastic holder and yours looks like metal.
