This is my mod for the day.

The Short Illuminator:

This is a 1AA Brinkmann Legend (modified from 2AA). This flashlight can be used with many pill type drop in light engines like the MiniPro or SMD.

Another pic this time next to the 1AAA Brinkmann.

This one is sporting an MJLED powered by a DC/DC 3.3V converter. This lets the hi-power 5mm LED show what it can do. While these 5mm won't be as bright as a Luxeon getting fed 500ma, these do produce more light at lower current levels. So when sticking below ~150ma, these 5mm LEDs produce a lot of light and give good run times.

This one clocks in just over 400 Lux, which is better than some Luxeons at twice the current.

And here's the beam from about six feet (2 meters) at tightest focus.

It's on the light meter right now chewing through an Energizer alkaline AA cell. It will be a few hours before I know the run time for sure....

I really like little lights. And I like chopping up little lights to make them smaller light.

People do not think a chopped light is serious because they know how dim a larger version is.

Slick job, Lambda.
