Does anyone know if I can use 2 Pila 168s batteries with a Surefire M4? I don't have one yet, but that is the serious light I want someday and if I can use Pilas with it, guilt-free lumens!! If not, are any Pilas compatible with the M4 or is there another rechargeable choice just as good?

Yes, but...

If you use two Pila 168S in the M4 you should use 9 volt (3x123) lamps because of the voltage. The N2, MN15, MN16 are the lamps to use with two Pilas in a Surefire TurboHead.

If you want to use the 12 volt (4x123) lamps of the M4, you need two A19 adaptors to extend the length and use three Pila 168S batteries.

The 12 volt (MN60/MN61) lamps will light with two Pila 168S, but dimmer and more yellow than normal and I think it would shorten lamp life.

I keep an M4 with 2 A19's and 3 168s in my Van all the time.
Abit long but works very well.If need be you can keep 4 123 cells handy and just take off the 2 A19's and your still good to go. SF M3T can use the N2 MN15 MN16 running 2 150s Pila's. If you run the 9volt lamps in the M4 you need to remember not to forget and load 4 123 cells during a cell change I learned that the hard way lamps do not come cheap.

I run the 9P/SRTH/N2 or 9P/P91 with either 2x150S or add an A19 and 2x168S for longer runtime.

For a very powerful light in the smallest package I use the UBH II with 2x150S/P91 which provides 200 lumens from a light only six and a half inches long and 5.3 ounces; lighter than a Pelican M6. I have belt EDC'd it for several weeks and never knew it was there. For extended runtime I use 2x168s in a Balrog BE4.

For turboheads I prefer to use "standard size" SF bodies.
