Why does Eveready and other battery companies push out new flashlight designs every few years?

And the problem is the lights are usually poor quality gimmicks. Anybody look at the "Graphite"? It's not graphite! It looks like the usual plastic which an adhesive patch of contact paper wrapped around it. Where they trying to hook people with the use of that word?
