If shipping via USPS from the US to Canada how should one address the package?

I read on the USPS website that Canadian customs is very picky about how the package is addressed, any tips on this issue?

It's going to Ontario, how does one abbreviate that?

Thanks

I ship to Canada all of the time and do nothing special except fill out the green customs form.

I never abbreviate any part of the address.

TIN posted recently that Canada requires that the sender put the recipients address in all capital letters but I've never seen that detailed anywhere else and I asked my local Post Office and they didn't know.

Canada's address requirements are just like ours.

Name
Street number - Street name
City - Province - Postal Code
Country

Officially (ours and theirs) use no puncuation, use abbreviations (Dr Ave Blvd N W On AB), use all capitals in the 'to' address. One space between everything except two spaces between province and postal code. No dash between the two halves of the postal code.

I just started using all capitals since I saw the thread about that here, but I never had anything returned for not doing do.

Here are a couple of links -

According to the above website Ontario = ON

Perhaps that just their preferred way?

Old way was Ont. Now all provinces use only two letters, like USA states do. ON is correct form.
