How do you take this light (entirely) apart? I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure this out. Specifically, how do you remove the emitter and the optic?

My xpg 5 watt light I just used both hands and unscrewed the lid. It looked welded or molded together, but it unscrewed. Then that left the optics and led module free. I have heard of others putting the light minus the batteries in a zip lock bag in boiling water to free the glue that holds the head on or rubebr gloves, etc.

Unscrew the head, set aside. Using a needle nose pliers with some small nails pinched in it, insert them into the holes in the retaining ring, and unscrew it. The whole LED assembly can now be pushed out, by stuffing something in the battery tube.
The same will work for the optic, but you could very easily scratch it.
