Original text:

I'm starting this thread at the urging of one of my customers: is there enough demand for me to have more of the Fire~Fly run 2 aluminum heads made? If there is enough demand for them, I will have some made up.

So: If you are interested in buying one or more aluminum heads for your Fire~Fly(s), please post to this thread and state how many you are interested in. I will give it a week or so, and judge demand from the posts. Ordering them from me, once I have enough interested people, will be the usual way - sending a Paypal payment or International money order.

OK now, let me know! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Said customer here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

I'd like two. These heads are great with the CR2 body and a MM Lite sammy.

BTW, how many do we need to make this a "go" Doug?

I'm thinking about 100 would do it, as any less would not be economically viable. Mind you, if people were willing to pay more, we could proabably do fewer. I'll contact the machinist this week, and see how much a run of 50 or 100 would be.

BTW, good idea with the MM lite sammie - less heat generated, so you could hang onto the light for longer... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Gauging interest: More Aluminum Fire~Fly heads?

knifebright - yes, these will work with the rev 1's. In fact, they give a bit more thread when screwing the head onto the body.

3rd_shift_lights - likely these won't work with the FF3, as I am having to change the head for that internally. So, if you want it to work with your FF1 or 2, now's the time to get these.

BTW, by "head" I mean the part that is copper in the stock Fire~Fly.

I'll take 2 or maybe 3, depending upon price. I have 3 FF that could use them.

Interested in 2 or 3 depending on price.
This will reduce the overall weight of the FF, right?

Hi nekomane-san /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

According to DSpeck's previous post, the aluminium head weighs 5g compared to 17g of the copper head. I use the aluminium heads on my Fire~fly II, which makes it considerably lighter (in terms of weight and not brightness /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif).
However, heat dissipation is better with the copper head so I would recommend a lower current sandwich (500mA or less). Intermittent use may be OK with the stock 650mA.

Re: Gauging interest: More Aluminum Fire~Fly heads?

For those with experience on the heat issue, what's your recommendation on using a MadMax Plus Wide Open? I have a MM+WO with an R2H that I've been considering putting in a Firefly II body...given this sandwich, would folks recommend the copper or aluminum head?
Thanks in advance
Dave
