My loving wife has seen me send plenty of time on forums and is amused by my latest amazement (sp) of flashlights. Anyway, she sent this to me today joking that I should share it on the board, so here we go......

How many internet forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light
bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

1 to move it to the Lighting section

2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to
condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb"
is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this
discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs
and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy
the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique
and what brands are faulty

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the
corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this
group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all
headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot
handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about
light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start
it all over again.

At least she understands the forums.....

This is either the third or fourth time I've seen this since I signed on in April 2004. I guess it's true /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

I didn't exactly respond, I started a post. I am new and as a result would not know. was only trying to pass something along but as I see by your post it's been on here before. Next time, try to be a little more tactful.

Photon,
Thanks. I am glad somebody saw the good intentions behind my original post.
chmsam,
to avoid having this happen again, it would be a good idea for a sticky /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Curbry.
It's still funny and accurate. I apologize for poking fun at you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif There are several subjects(where did you get your username, how did you find CPF, etc) that keep coming up and the repetition causes them to lose their appeal. They prolly should be stickies..... My impatience and impoliteness shouldn't spoil the fun.
Welcome to CPF. Hold on to your wallet, you're in for one interesting ride!!

Are you sure your wife is not already a CPFer, just that you don't know it yet? She seems to know us so well already!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Well written, and thanks for sharing it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It should be 'spend' not 'send' plenty of time on forums.

"Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes we did. It's been covered here, here and here. Newbies should learn to use the search function!!!

Hehehe... I couldn't help myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/clap.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif

Hehehe.... I know. I'm just doing my part to fulfill some of the things that are expected. Maybe I should have messed up a link so someone else could correct me for an incorrect correction. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Daloosh and everyone,
Thanks for the welcomes. It is appreicated. My wife is amused with everything I do. I play very hard, but work my tail off when I need to. I am also a very lucky man. My wife is great, we also are recently married...so time will tell , /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I take care of my wife. If she wants something, I tell her to buy it. Life is too short not to be happy....

My daughter comes over occasionally and notices one or 2 more lights each time. She thinks I have a "fetish" now.
