This topic has been talked about a lot in the past. The short version is: The vf of the emitter will most likely be lower than the output voltage of a fully charged cell. As such the driver circiut will be in direct drive with no regulation. The emitter may or may not tolerate this abuse. Some folks have had no problems while others have cooked their emitters. If you decide to try it and if the worst happens and you cook the emitter, it's not hard to replace with one that would be much more tolerent to that battery. There are many people here on the CPF's that could help you out should that happen. The few LS's that have crossed my bench have all been modded with Lux III's. So right off the bat regardless of vf they tend to be more tolerent to the higher currents that would result from the use of a Li-ion. So it's a crap shoot.

good luck,
zwf
