Green Laser Acting Funny...

My Green >5mw laser pointer sometimes throws off a secondary pinpoint of light right next the central beam. Then after a few moments in the "on" position, the secondary dot goes away and the main pinpoint of the light beam gets really bright and stays bright.

I wonder if it is starting to crap out (it doesn't have much burn time on it, but off warranty!)???

Craig or anybody out there have any clue to what's up?

I don't know anything about lasers, but wanted to make sure that you were aware of a situation with Craig.

Back in September, Craig had a very serious medical emergency that required brain surgery. I believe he is currently in a nursing home and seems to be recovering nicely and we hope to hear from him soon. I believe that they got permission for him to get a laptop and they are preparing one for him now so he can get online again.

Measure the current drain, is it absurdly high?

I remember reading that these lasers emit three beams, one primary and two secondary (its the real world) beams. Maybe the crystal has shifted a bit or is moving from thermal efects. The laser guy on this forum is the one to talk to. Check out the dealers corner and you will find one of his latest threads.

I have seen this before - I think the module has a problem. I would suggest you return it to whereever you bought it.

Can you tell me where you purchased your laser. I have one ordered from Dwight(Laser guy)IT was an eight day turnaround I guess Veterans Day held him up somewhat.Ill post as soon as I receive it.
